This week in inspirational characters of history, I introduce to you Isambard Kingdom Brunel (9 April 1806 – 15 September 1859)

He was an English mechanical and civil engineer who is considered "one of the most ingenious and prolific figures in engineering history", "one of the 19th-century engineering giants", and "one of the greatest figures of the Industrial Revolution. He changed the face of the English landscape with his groundbreaking designs and ingenious constructions". Brunel built dockyards, the Great Western Railway, a series of steamships including the first propeller-driven transatlantic steamship, and numerous important bridges and tunnels. His designs revolutionized public transport and modern engineering.

What I found incredibly inspirational in this guy is his ability to solve large scale problems. He took the most critical challenges in his time to improve the quality of life of people. In those times, mobility was a different challenge than today but still a  great one.

Nowadays, he would be considered an entrepreneur focus to solve urban mobilization, and his solutions would be competing with Uber and similar apps.
